The Pyramid You Recently Climbed

Dynasty Four

Khafre succeeded his short-lived brother, Djedefre, to the throne. It was Khafre who caused the Second Pyramid (the one you've just climbed) and the Sphinx to be built. Under his rule, Egypt prospered. To make his pyramid look taller than that of his father, Khufu, Khafre had his built on higher ground. This pyramid is sometimes called the Second Pyramid, due to its secondary stature in height, not due to chronological date.
