Background Info on the Nile River Basin.

The desert was often known as the Red Land. The fertile strip on either side of the Nile was known as the Black Land (KMT), hence the name for ancient Egypt.

The source of the Nile comes from three main tributaries, the White Nile, the Blue Nile and the Atbara River.
